Adam Baran is guitarist, composer, producer and noise maker based in Warsaw, Poland.
He makes music as a half of songwriter’s duo Pola Chobot & Adam Baran, leds jazz group Helicopets and produces own ambient guitar recordings for visual arts. Adam grew up listening to Bjork, Radiohead and White Stripes. In his 20’s received jazz education, graduated from „Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław” and „Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice”. At that time he was influenced mostly by albums of Coltrane, Stańko and Frisell. Improvised music became his main background.
As a sideman, he currently works with alternative bands Patrick the Pan, Swiernalis and singer Alicja Szemplińska. In the studio and on stage he collaborated with legendary jazzman Michał Urbaniak, blues virtuoso Roman Puchowski and artists Kathia, Ofelia, Panilas, Magda Kluz.
Adam is constantly on tour performing at festivals in Poland and Europe (including Sziget Budapest, Off Festival, Męskie Granie). He took part in International Jazz Platform in Łódź and Oslo edition, where he performed in group led by drummer Erland Dahlen. In 2024 Adam Baran & the Helicopets were selected by Nils Petter Molvaer to the final of Jazz Juniors Competition, where they received special award as a result of which they are going on tour all over Europe in 2025.
